League Rule:

  • Singing begins at 9pm.

  • There are 2 rounds in which everyone sings once.

  • Singing order is chosen randomly.

  • The singing order will be posted at start time. Hopefully everyone will show up on time. Anyone missing their turn will have to sing immediately upon arrival.

  • Sometimes, people have to leave early, I get that. Feel free to let me know when you arrive that night.

  • Just like jury duty, you could be asked to judge at least one night that you don't sing on. If this isn't an option for you, please let me know ASAP.

  • If you can't make it for whatever reason, don't call me during the day. Please let me know by text before 9pm. 306-241-5500

  • In the event of a tie, the person tying the one ahead of them will take the spot for that week.

  • Make friends and be supportive of others.

  • 25 pt penalty for not showing up per night.

Scoring:

  • 0 - 10 pts pitch/key

  • 0 - 10 pts emotion in voice

  • 0 - 10 pts performance

So, a total of 30 pts could be handed out per song.

Tips:

  • Try and sing to everyone in the room (especially judges).

  • Be aware of how loud you are. Try to not scream or yell into the mic. A good note that is too loud is just as bad as a flat one at times.

  • Smile, enjoy yourself.

  • Don't just stand in the corner looking up at the monitor, give us a show. Karaoke is for the people who sing on the weekends.

  • Don't get caught up in the competitive part of things. Not everyone is in it for that reason!

  • Grow a thick skin, One week you may be first, the next week you may be last. Some of you could be last every week! There are people in this league who've done this for over ten years. Be in competition with yourself and no one else.

  • Judges like different things. Get used to that.

Tuesday How Far They've Come

Great job everyone!

TARA --Let It Rain-- An umbrella- open inside! Lol let it spray on me... So glad you did this song. It felt a little like sleet though... Brett! Beautiful vibrato, nice solid belt. --Sunday Morning After-- Love the start of the song lol. You are such an amazing performer. Fun performance, thanks for taking me back to bad tequila decisions. Awesome!

MAYCE --Paparazzi-- Lovely Gaga! Your voice is powerful and lovely! I would be your paparazzi! Nice natural stage presence, very expressive! Great mic control with the belt! I enjoyed this performance --Disease-- Loved you getting into the song. Beautiful! Great look, great expression, really strong performance.

JASPER --Jackie And Wilson-- Love this song for you! Don't know it but makes me want to listen to it! Beautiful performance. YES! Nice clear notes into vibrato. So expressive as always with a great stage presence! --Unknown/Nth-- I don't have much to say here. I could feel your song. So good! And now I have to take a moment for composure.

RIKKI --Swing Life Away-- Love the vision here, beautiful. Love the swinging that was cute. Very expressive! You have a great tone, really enjoyed your voice in the lower register. --Nowhere Generation-- Felt this song speaks a lot of volumes. Good and beautiful song choices. Super expressive, great job! I could feel your anger. Way to draw us into your performance.

DENIS --Paranoid-- Good when you can make us laugh. But I'm not sure I can help you either. Nice belt & rake! I don't think Ozzy is as happy in this song... it mad me question your sanity... or was that the point? --Patient Number 9-- Way to start the beginning. Only Patient 9? Love them coming to hold you back. Good job! Love that you are the perfect amount of creepy for this song. Why do i believe you and your entourage are in an institution? Great job!

EMERY --The Man Who Sold The World-- This song really works well for your voice, Couldn't ask for more! Ok I LOVE nirvana and your voice is so perfect for this song! I'm jealous of your natural raspy tone! --Come As You Are-- Think you did Nirvana justice! I'm sure it's a group you grew up on & loved so- respect! I'm glad you enunciate better than Kurt! Just would like you to bring the judges into your performance. Keeping your eyes closed cuts it off. Amazing tone & vocals!

LENORE --Driven Under-- Thanks for the Seether. It wouldn't be you without it! I love watching you sing something that means something to you. Seether... you're the only one who can do Seether now, you know that right?! Can really see you connected with this song. Never show the judges if you mess up a bit, they may not notice! Great job! --Wasteland-- I can't decide which song I liked more between these two but you have this Seether girl! Your eyes were closed a bit too much on this one. Maybe trying to forget the mic was so moist? You know this song so bring us in to your performance by moving around more.

MELODY --Driver's License-- Even with the plague you are amazing- you trooper, warrior woman. Your mic control is always on point! Pushing your voice through illness is extremely difficult. I'm surprised you can breathe at all! You are a trooper! --Vampire-- You banged thru it! Proud of you! Sustained notes & fast lyrics, good on you for pushing through! This was an amazing performance!

TIA --Tik Tok-- Love how fun this song is and how fun you made it! Keep Tik-Toking lady! Attitude 1000%! A couple of timing issues off the start but recovered nicely even with a wall jump! --Rainbow-- Beautiful song by a beautiful woman. You're always so expressive. I can feel your songs when you sing. Great job!

SIMON --Dirty Old Town-- Don't know this song really. But it's hard being the first singer of the night. Poor Saskatoon, dirty old town, lol. Nice wistful look to start. Irish songs need more drinking! Good clear notes, great job! --Whiskey In The Jar-- Fun jiggy song My husband is from Belfast so I really appreciate the Pogues. It feels like home... but where is the Jamieson?

TAYLOR --Sugar We're Going Down-- I like how you kept trying- that's all you can do! Awesome! Nice song choice! Don't let the judges know when you make a mistake, half the time we won't notice! I wanted to hear you push into chest voice. --Thnks Fr Th Mmrs-- Felt this song was better. Fit with your voice more. This one was my favourite, much stronger voice! You appeared more confident to push it out there. Great job!

BRETT --Black Hole Sun-- You seemed to know the song- that dang black hole sun. Ok this song is an ear worm for me and I will be singing it for 2 days! Starting by washing away Tara's rain... part of the show? If so you get so many bonus points! --I Am The Highway-- Felt like you were more into this song. Loved it so much more. Glad the dancers made you happy. Your song was the only one that got dancers up, need I say more? This song was stronger for you for sure. Great job!

HAYLEY --Pen De Replay-- Loved that you picked a fun song. And takes time to get into performing. Even I still don't... lol. It's tough when you're sick but you keep saying you want to show us how to move in the lyrics... where's the moves?! Just a bit more practice so you aren't screen watching. --Love On The Brain-- You look nervous, but you got this lady! You will be good! Again, you know the song and I feel like we are all just waiting for you to break out of your screen gazing crutch.

Thanks again to Claire Nelson and Traci Morrow for judging tonight.

SCOTT --Let's Get It Start-- I know this song is super challenging, it's why our band doesn't do it. The words and times are insane. More practice and you might have caught the right timing. Great performance, though. Great energy and fun. You did a better job of the words than the screen did. Fast song, you did very well! Keep that confidence up! --The Time (Dirty Bit)-- I love how you use all of the space and get the crowd into it too! There is that confidence! Loved it!!!

SMOKEY JAMES --Workin' Day and Night-- Nice moves! Well done. Michael Jackson requires a lot of energy, and you brought it. Love the moves and the song choice. Keep it up! You sound great! Those "p" sounds are pretty loud, maybe move the mic away or make the "b" sound? --Speechless-- An excellent job of a very difficult song.

BRIGIT --When You're Gone-- Very pretty song. New to me. Little pitchy at the start, but you were spot on with this song. --I Can't Be With You-- Lovely. Good energy!

LIZ --Jesus Take The Wheel-- I am not really a fan of Carrie, but you did a pretty great job! Little pitchy here, but you nailed the high parts! --Spinning Bottles-- Haven't heard this one before, but seemed to be a good choice for your voice. :) Quiet in a few parts but still sounded great.

CLAIRE --See You Again-- Love your outfit. This was a great choice for your voice :) Keep up that confidence. --Flowers-- Oh! A costume change! Snazzy! Good job :) You made this song better.

DAVID --One More Light-- Pretty song, well done. Little quiet at the start. Show more confidence, you sound great! --In The End-- My fave, Linkin Park! Well done!

You can totally do it! Love this song! Nice tears! Love the emotion. Wanted to see more energy.

JORDAN B --Dream On-- Once you hit the chorus, sweet! Can tell you love singing this! Oh ya! We all waited for that jump up and you delivered! Love this song. Vocals are great. Great vocal control, wish I saw more props and performance. Those high notes wow!!! --I Don't Want To Miss A Thing-- Sounded great. Stay grounded on those high notes. SHIMMY --The Greatest Story Ever Told-- Always love the screamo from you! Don't know the song but could be there more dynamics? Nice PJ's! Hahah! You always have great vocals, performance and emotions. Sucks you're sick! How do you distort your voice? It's awesome. --Welcome To Horrorwood-- Felt there was more dynamics in this one. I liked it! I feel bad for all of you who are sick! Blah! You are such a great singer!

MELODY --Driver's License-- When you could sing, you sounded great! Even with being sick, you have that power! I feel so bad for you! Poor girl! You're an awesome singer. We got you. Although the raspy voice is my top fav. --Vampire-- Oh yeah, there ya go! I'm always so amazed by how you whip that mic around to control the sound. I can tell breathing is hard. Bronc sucks! Still great!

AMBROSE --Ooby Dooby-- Way to jam with that guitar! Lost your vocals at times be sure to keep singing into that mic when dancing, tough to keep track of it when it's on that stand. Love the moves! Long instrumentals but love the casual talking in between. --She's A Mystery To Me-- Vocals, verses are clear, rich, and nice vibrato! When you go up higher, try to keep that richness by projecting sound forward rather than upward. Nice! Better mic control!

CAT --Power Of Love-- Such a smooth, full tone! Timing & pitch a bit off at beginning, but you quickly found your sweet spot! Little off key. Like how you made it your own. --I Drove All Night-- I like the richness in your voice. Pitchy on the power high notes. Ground yourself and project out! You have an awesome voice. I feel the song choice for your vocals wasn't right. But you made it your own vocally and I admire that. Pitchy in some areas.

BRUCE --Don't Be Cruel-- Your pitch is definitely improving! I always enjoyed seeing you up there, Bruce. You are getting better and choosing great songs for you. --My Way-- You love this song! Timing was pretty good, but lost it some at the end. Keep working at pitch, nice longer notes close to end. Love the costume.

KEALY --Don't Let Me Get Me-- Man girl, have you ever improved vocally! Stay focused on support even when you perform. Love the performance, BTW! Way to get into the vocals! Let her rip girl! Love your costume and dancing. Great vocals and dance routine. The props were on point. --Hate Me-- So confident up there, sexy! Don't know the song but enjoyed it! Be sure to keep focused on pitch. The Melody, key and pitch is off. Love your performance and bringing props. Love your energy! Vocals aren't bad.

Thanks again to Darla Boese and Tracey Holmed for judging.
