Big Shiny Tunes was a thoroughly enjoyable theme for me!
JASMINE --I Hate Everything About You-- Well done. So moody, but the song calls for it. Love your voice. I love the tone of your voice, so unique. Great expression, visually and vocally. Adam Gontier is a hard man to imitate, his vocals are so powerful, but you did a great job in doing so. --Animal I Have Become-- I love the feeling you conveyed so well. Emo is your jam! Try not to cover up the mic with your hand, and pull the mic back when hitting those big notes. Not as strong as your first song, but you still killed it. Don't be afraid to pull the mic back a bit when belting those big notes. You have the power, we will hear you.
TARA --Precious Declaration-- Great statement song. Well done. You have such a pretty voice. For this song, I wanted some grit in there, bring out your inner rock star. Take forever for set up for such a lackluster performance. My "precious declaration" was the fight for this song to be over. --Hate Me-- That showed of the power vocals. Loved it, well done. Love the costume. Perfect for your voice and I heard some great! Do not worry, we hate you today, tomorrow, and always.
JAMES --My Old Self-- Sounded beautiful as always. I love your voice. Love this song, so nastalgic. Your voice was spot on! Love the natural performance. Good tone. Loved seeing you getting into it. --Same Direction-- Showed off a good vocal dynamic. I love that. Great vocals, really like your stage presence! Loved the song choices.
BRYDEN --All Star-- Cute Shrek headband and star paper! Sounded good too! Nice Shrek horns, great use of props. Song was a little bit too low for you. Fun performance. Especially the part when it ended. --Just A Girl-- Nice statement performance. Sounded great too. Nailed it. Great tone/ expression/ attitude. You showed Trump and Polievre who's boss. Ha. Little things. You didn't have it up to very high.
RIKKI --My Friends Over You-- Only missed a line, but well done. Such great energy! So much fun! Major attitude! A few parts got away from you, but you recovered quickly. Good energy. Got a little winded at times. Sounded good. --Heaven's Coming Down-- I freaking love the deep tones of the Tea Party. Thanks for nailing it! You couldn't have picked a better song for your voice. Enjoyed this so much. I F*cking hate Tea Party, but you did it good.
MELODY --My Way-- Check out my Melody... Just kinda missing some kind of performance is all (like what we are used to from you). Always such great energy/attitude. "Check out the Melody" BOOOOO. Is "your way" making our ears bleed? Cause you succeeded in that. Good thing it wasn't "my way" or I would have turned it off. --Never Too Late-- Nice song, but not much going on for performance, that's where you lose your points. You set your own bar so high. I know you're tired, but bring it this Thursday. Your facial expression was on point, shows all of the passion. Some of the notes were a bit low, but what do you do? It's never too late to stop singing. I believe in you.
LENORE --Careless Whisper-- All I wanted to do was dance, it was smooth and beautiful. Knitting by day, rocking by night. Your passion for this song and Seether shone through. Surprised to hear this was a backup choice, but I'm not sad you went with it. Sounded good, a few bum notes, but not many at all. --Remedy-- You do Seether well, your listening has paid off, now get your eyes off the screen. You don't need it! Dayum girl, you killed this song! What? Seether? Killin it this week.
DENIS --Space Lord-- Good song for you, love that you opted for the unclean version, and good costume. Perfect song for your voice. Mask made it a bit muffled. Hard to hear with mask. Loved the song. --The Bad Touch-- YES! Animal suits and a dancer! The way it's meant to be done. Hard to find the breath for all of those words, but you did pretty good! Tara was a nice "touch". "I appreciate your song choice". Killing it out there.
SYDNEY --One Week-- Some words got away from you, but I love your voice. Good effort, that's a lot of words! Lost it a bit in the fast parts, but all in all it was great. --Video Killed The Radio Star-- Love this song, you sounded great, but I would love to see a good Sydney performance. Epic song! You always look like you're having so much fun up there. Killed it. Not like when Keith Urban asked me to sing, but almost.
TIA --Cold Hearted Bitch-- Well done, good song, thanks for choosing breathing. Fun song! Good timing. Just needed a little more expression. This is a hard song to sing. You had good tone. A few pitch issues here and there, but as a whole it sounded good. --Song 2-- I love this song, I see you did something different with it. Thanks for coming out tonight. You had more pizzazz in this song! You had some fun with that song, but the lyrics are actually "fenefenenenene".
Thanks again to Sara Kjelshus and Shimmy for judging.
Thanks so much for coming in and having so much fun and reminding me that some people still have the spirit of league!
MORGAN --Everybody's Fool-- Nice Tracey prop. I love that people help each other even when they're doing the same song. Strong from the start! Lost one or two of the highest notes, but you seriously RULED this song! Wow! Just... WOW! Though taking your actors eyes may not help performance points... doesn't hurt, but doesn't help, lol. --Lightning Crashes-- I love this song, the deep parts seemed a little deep for you cause I could barely hear them, even with you cranked up, but you visually lost me when that placenta hit the floor. So much nope for me. Lol. I screamed when you put it on the table. I had to pee so bad, you almost burst the dam. Nice vocals, even nicer placenta. I'm sorry for laughing so hard, but for such a serious song, you found the most amazing way to perform it. Fricking GENIUS! As for vocals, perfection.
TRACEY --Everybody's Fool-- Love the ominous performance to this, and sounded great. Holy shit, enough said. Visuals and vocals were both stunning! Mid-range is definitely your powerhouse. Evanescence is hard to sing, but you make it look effortless. Very dynamic visuals! --Ignorance-- I love that fiery performance you bring to everything you do! Without sacrificing the vocals. Respect for the theatrics. You knew this one really well, the confidence fed your performance. If that was my man, I'd leave him too... you deserve better. A for the song, a couple lyric flubs, but you powered through like a boss, and damn near tore the bar down, lol.
BRIGIT --Rise Above This-- Sounded great. I love this song. Loved the power in your voice! Would have liked less screen-watching. Overall amazing! Cute lights <3 The bottom notes gave you a bit of trouble, but you never let it show and you slayed the higher notes. I love the cloud lol. --Pork And Beans-- Wow a singing inflatable man! I love your insane antics! I was into this from the first second. Excellent work, and thanks for the beenz! Best costume EVER!! I might borrow it for the Terror Trail next year lol. Couldn't ask for better.
COLTEN --Somewhere I Belong-- You looked the part and rocked out. Sounded great too. Great work! Okay, power! Great emotion. Lost the pitch on one or two of those lower notes, but you totally crushed this one! I love when you sing Linkin Park! Your natural rasp is perfect! Amazing! --My Way-- Yay! So Fred Durst-y! Backwards hat, nuances and all. I loved it. But what do you mean you will straight up leave my shit? lol I could feel the rage, nice work! Excellent tone and control. Love the look, the attitude, everything!
JAIME --I Hate Everything About You-- Great attitude, you have rockstar energy. So powerful in all the right places! Lowest notes were a bit of a reach, but you sang the hell out of it all! You've come a long way. The attitude you were projecting was perfect for this song! The bottom notes were a bit too low for you, but you kept rocking it like a pro. --Standing All Alone-- Again you look so comfortable on stage. Natural performer. Nice rhythm work, this was a PERFECT range for you! Loved the choice! Okay sassy pants! Love the attitude! Great job.
CELICA --All To Myself-- Cute rock out with your dad. Sounded nice too. You had those notes under your belt, girl! Now get the power! Your flip from chest to head voice is beautifully clean! <3 slay! You need to do more of this! Nothing against Taylor Swift, but this showed a rockier side to you! Oh... and ditch the guitar player, he looks like an asshole. --Rockstar-- Great rockstar energy, but you sound so sweet. Gotta throw some grit in there. This was an amazing range for you! Your backup vocals were wonky... Big rockstar vibes, nice job! And thanks for the drugs :) Ugh... the guitarist came back (sad face). Great props and actors, just an overall great job. PS you have too many drugs lol.
SHIMMY --Mistake-- I hate that you didn't learn those two lines, babe! I saw them live so I'm insulted! The reats was really good, down to the JNCO jeans I made for you. Outfit was killer. You sounded the best when you stopped singing. Great work as always! Your "mistake" was thinking you can sing. Please stop... please. --Flavor Of The Weak-- // You're my least favourite flavour. Just like tiger tiger. Yuck. (nice) I don't know what the original idea was that you scrapped, but you should have scrapped it all, and stayed home so I didn't have to hear you.
CLAIRE --Iris-- This is a good song for you. I also love your outfit. You captured the right facial emotions for this one! A touch more energy would have benefited, but you did great! Nice strumming! You could have bumped this up one or two so we could hear those bottom notes, you still had plenty of room at the highest note in this song. Once the song got going, you sounded a lot more comfortable. --Never Too Late-- Seemed a little shakier vocally. Loved this outfit too. Great work capturing the emotion again! Smart choice going up the octave. Very smart bringing the verse up like that... I didn't do that on Tuesday, so I know how "bottom-y" those bottoms notes are. Great job!
DAVID --Song 2-- Great timing, good song, lots of fun! Would have loved a bigger "woohoo' just for energy to start, overall very well done! Please to meet you, too. Very short song lol. It sounded great. --Dragula-- Love this song, started a little off key but got on key very quickly. Good job. This song is very good for you. PERFECT roughness in your voice for this choice. Great work! Started off too low, but once the chorus hit, you found it, and carried it through to the end.
BRUCE --Figured You Out-- Timing struggles but a good song to bring out. You have the perfect amount of rasp in your voice for this! Lost the tempo once, but you finished strong. Good job too, no-strap-shimmy. The first line mishap "I like your pants around my feet" had me cracking up, and Shimmy's belt coming off, I thought there WAS going to be pants dropping... Thankfully there was not. --Kryptonite-- This is a good song, would have liked to see you dress up for it, as you usually get into it. Great work on keeping the Melody in the chorus. A couple timing issues, but you got back on beat, and kept the show going.
CALBERT --Fly Away-- Good song, love to see you getting out there in the crowd. Your smile is infectious, it's impossible not to enjoy it when you sing! This might be one of those songs that you think you know it until you see the words... it happens to the best of us. You knew one chorus well. --Teenage Dirtbag-- Little off time, but you looked like you were enjoying it, and that's a good thing. Another fun choice, great job. Iconic song, and you definitely knew this one better. Good job.
Thanks again to Bryden Szejvolt and Melody Wolfe for judging.
I couldn't read some of the orange judge comments so you get what I get! Great fun tonight! Good job Thursday crew!
AMANDA --Teenage Dirtbag-- OMG! Perfect performance! Love it! I think this was my favourite! Loved the performance. --Just A GIrl-- I'm going to remember you for sure! Wowzer! Wow amazing.
KODY --Push-- Wowzer! You can hold vocals, keep composure and sing that song very well. Great performance 10-10-10 for me!! Start to feel like a big Shiny Tunes night, ah-ay great expression, and rocked. --American Psycho-- I get it when karaoke versions "F" you up. You still perform good. One little slip up early nice recovery... I know you struggle with the right vocals.
MELODY --Youth Of The Nation-- Wow! You can rap! Where's your flag? Lol! I love this song! We def. are the youth of the nation, Hehe! Wow, really well done keeping up with the words and switching. Right performance for the song. --My Way-- Now that's a performance! There is the Mel I'm looking for. How do you give a (something I can't read) meal? Should have used shimmy, he need to die more often.
NICOLE --Angry Johnny-- I'm mesmerized by your vocals and stage presence. Nice eye contact and communicating with your eyes. Why am I scared? Those eyes are too real. --Numb-- Still mesmerized by your vocals. Wish there were props, and performance. Just a little more would compliment you. Don't know the song, sounded very well.
JAIME --Wake Up Call-- I'm so sorry don't kill me! It's not my fault! LMFAO! Bahahaha! Dying with laughter! So good! Had me laughing so hard scaring the judges. They deserved to be shot. --Brother Down-- Love your stage presence! Always! You are improving. Mid range is your best suit. Haven't heard this in a long time, nice timing.
KASEY --Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) Kasey's version-- Sorry Kasey! I was so confused, wasn't sure what the heck was going on until David tried to explain. Still over my head. Love the song change, need black felt for us to see the songs like the how to judge that!!! --Mistake-- You're funny girl! Doing a great performance. so emotion- (something illegible).
BEKKA --Move Along-- Awe! Will try to stay strong. Thank you for your inspiration. Less screen watching. Loving how you interact with the crowd. Keep moving girl! <3 I like how you got the rest of the bar involved, very nice, could hear a few cracks. --Somebody Told Me-- Nice performance, great vocals. Wow.
SHAUNA --No Rain-- You're so bumblee! Haha! Get it? Bubbly but Bumblee! Hehe! Nice reveal, very clean and nicely done. --Santa Monica-- Your energy. Nicely done much better performance.
DANYAL --All These Things That I've Done-- I always love hearing you sing. Raspy is my fav... I would like more eye contact. Love how you're just jamming out. Little (Something) on the lyrics, nice recovery. --Hate Me-- Wooo! Those high notes! Your emotions spot on! Nice power, you don't need the screen so much.
SHIMMY --Blue Monday-- Haha! Stop it! Oh Megan! Shimmy You're such a character. Don't know this song but your shimmy shake gets me laughing. Need performance. Pitch is always great. Not the usual Shimmy energy, careful on the power transitions, second was much better. --Given Up-- Strong vocals! I might lose my voice if I tried singing like that! So Good! Uhhhh....
DAVI --Take Me Out-- Love the army performance and marching. Nice acting. Nice outfit, like how you got into it. --All These Things That I've Done-- You're doing pretty good for a rookie! Great start! Put the dress back on, that would have been so funny.
CAT --Scar Tissue-- This was a good vocal choice for you! Would have like to see a more on the performance. --Paralyzer-- Nice growl, really enjoyed the vocals. Needed something for the instrumental.
AARON --Wonderwall-- Start to lose timing nice recovery. --All The Small Things-- Love this song and loved how you got carried out by Danyal! Ha-ha! Small timing issues, nice recovery.
KEALY --The Kill-- You are always a great performer. Your emotions are spot on! Very emotional! It seems you are relating to this song. Need to work on pitch.. Some pronunciation would greatly help you have a wonderful voice. --Headstrong-- I love how you and your man perform together. It tough when the words are off, would like more projection and pronunciations.
KRISTA --Everybody's Fool-- Thank you for the pop and note! The cans were a nice touch but I would have liked to see more movement between passing them out.
Thanks again to Tracey Holmes and David Van Der Ploeg for judging!
